Music Video

This is a link of the type of music that will be featured within my magazine as a final product. Two Door Cinema Club - Sun. It is within the indie genre and this will be consistent throughout my magazine.

Flat Design Front Page

This is what the i hope the layout of my final project will look like, however, it will have more than one sell line as well as the main sell line beaming in the middle of the page. The mast head will be placed in front of the main image so it is easily recognised, i will be producing my magazine cover in a similar way to the NME magazines front cover I have analysed previously on my blog. The main sell line will be a very eye catching as well as the main image to attract the target audience, which i am aiming for it to be people interested in indie music, age ranging from 15-35/40.

NME Double Page Spread Analysis

Layout: in this double page spread, three columns have been used. They are all placed alongside each other and all lines are even. This makes the page look more professional that it would if it were to be all messy and all over the place. The headline used links Florence and the Machine directly in with the article as 'You've got the love' is the name to one of her songs, the headline is telling you what the article will be about and is situated at the top of the page in big bold writing to catch the attention of the reader. Most of the colour used is a very dull grey with 'Florence Welch' highlighted in a dull blue colour to show who the following article will be about.
Images: the main image to this double page spread is situated on the left hand side of the page and it is the only image on both pages. This shows that Florence Welch is the main reason for the article her being the main image. This spread in particular is most definitely text-led over picture-led even though the spread is taken over mainly by the main image there is still only one picture and plenty of text. There are no captions used for anchorage on this image.
Language: the size of the font varies on this page spread the font used for part of the headline is a serif which makes it looks more civilised and professional. The font used in the actual article is also a serif, making it look more neat and professional.

Review of NME magazine Contents Page.

Masthead/Title: located in the top left corner in red exactly like on the front cover to keep up the identity of the magazine brand to the audience. It also lets the viewer know that it is the latest addition of the magazine by mentioning 'THIS WEEK'. The magazine has the brand index which links into the music genre of the magazine, the list also shows the variety of bands that are featured inside the magazine.
Necessary information: the date is located under the masthead, showing the audience if the magazine is a recent issue or an older issue. The contents page has a page number in the bottom right hand corner of the page.
Text:  subheadings are featured on the right hand side of the page in capital letters to stand out on the page over the lower case text in the same area of the page. The articles that are featured in the magazine are in black with the page in red, this makes it easier for the viewer to follow and flick to the articles that interest them more. The text purpose is to inform the viewer of stories inside the magazine.
Font: the font used is non serifs, it is all matching to make the magazine more professional. The font is all colour coordinated  in black and red, it also has a few bit of yellow using bright colours is more eye catching than just using dull colours, appealing to the target audience.
Images: there is two main images on this contest page which are anchored by a caption giving the viewer an insight of the main story inside the magazine. The images are positioned in the middle of the page.
Colour: on this specific contents page there are three colours used for the text to make the more important statements stand out.

Review of NME Magazine Cover.

Font:  the font used on this magazine cover is very bold and colourful, this is so it stands out and attracts the attention of the target audience which is people in the age range of 14-24. The title is situated at the very top of the page in a regular font and it is easily noticeable.
Text: the text used is large and 'in your face'. it is very colourful which attracts the attention of the target audience. NME have used the specific names of the bands/solo artists that will feature in this addition this would attract the fans of these bands/solo artists.
Colour: the colours used are both bright and dark colours, giving off the impression of which type of music that will be wrote about inside the magazine. In this case it is up beat and deep alternative music.
Body Language/Staging: the body language used is inviting the audience, directly looking at the camera and it takes up the full frame.
Framing: the main image takes up most of the frame with writing over it explaining the inner stories and what will feature inside. There are more photos round the main image which attracts different audience. Even though the masthead is partly covered by the main picture it is easy to recognise as it is a very well known music magazine NME.
Lighting: lighter in the middle of the magazine behind the centre image, putting more attention on the main image. Giving the target audience the idea of what the main story within the magazine will be.
Composition:(overall design/layout): the front cover isn't too packed, you are able to read all the writing which is giving ideas of inside stories. Attracts fans of the certain artists that feature on the front cover.

Jarvis Cocker Activity

Firstly I saved the Jarvis image from moodle then opened it within photoshop. once it was opened i renamed the background layer to 'Jarvis'. I then followed the step by step guide giving me an understanding of how to zoom in, change brightness and contrast, change hue and saturation, also duplicating layers, selecting and deleting backgrounds, changing colours for the different layers, entering texts, positioning texts around the page and adding texts onto different layers as well as different pictures. The step by step guide also helped with the understanding of .psd files and other file types. This is the complete cover for this activity however, i understand that my final magazine cover for my final project must have more sell lines put upon it to appeal to the target audience.

First Post

I created this blog to analyse the work that I will be doing throughout the year in AS media.
